Question #2:

what are the advantages and disadvantages of using a motorhome?

Or even a small caravan anything like that, I just choose not to live in a regular house like most people for my own reasons that are private and I don't think I wanna pay for things that I might not even use or even if I was the only one using them. I guess I could make it for a small apartment but I just prefer a small discreet place of my own, away from other people, or at least a lot, like say if I found a small area that is quiet, discreet to park the vechile whatever, would that be acceptable?
If it was an area that was completely random, no land lord or anyone just as I say a discreet place, and obviously I guess there may be less expenses I am not bothered about the lack of space at least not just now and in fact that is all I need, just a small space for myself.
But uh I cant drive how can I learn to drive the vechile? What things will I need to pay for, like obviously food, clothing, utilties, what else though?
And again, would that be possible to just find a discreet place to park and stay for as long as you please? Again, thats all I need, I can live without a big fancy home. or maybe any home for that matter and just a handy vechile like above
I saw some people like that in some movies, I actually think that would be pretty cool if I did that

Question #4:

Vehicles that I can travel through the US and Canada in?

So I basically want to sell everything I own except a few sentimental things and purchase a reasonably priced vehicle that I could travel in and perhaps sleep in whenever I have to. I don't want to purchase a motorhome or an RV, so I'm thinking something like a VW bus? I was just wondering if anyone would have any better vehicle suggestions? I'm really only looking to spend about $7,000-8,000

Question #10:

Looking for RV Park in Portland, Oregon that will take my well-maintained '78 motorhome?

We just bought a '78 Champion Motorhome in December and are now looking for an RV Park in the Portland, Oregon area for a month-to-month rental. Problem is, we are now finding that most RV Parks here will not accept monthly rentals for anything older than 10-15 years.

I can understand that this rule is designed to keep junky rigs out of the parks which could cause the parks to lose business. However, our RV is in good condition and has been maintained very well. Does anyone know of an RV park in the Portland, OR area which does not discriminate against RVs based on their age, as long as they are in good condition?

Question #11:

R.V. Buying question....?

I live alone and need a class A motorhome for under $10.000! I have seen several mid 1990 models and they look nice, but what should I focus on? I am disabled and flying is a hassle, so I would only use it to sleep and eat in while I travel to visit friends. I have a friend who bought a Limited in 1989 and paid $100.000 new for it, it looks like a big black train, and is 38 ft long. he is still using it, but says he spends around $6000 a year in maintenance and repairs, and just recently spent $3000 on a new roof, and $2000 for air suspension ride overhaul. I would appreciate it if someone could give me advice on a simple to maintain no frills class a that I could enjoy and still afford to own it.
To Dan, God bless you brother! This is the first real advice I have gotten! I have found a 1990 malabu cobra on line here in phoenix, $8800 and it has 40k miles, no gen and tires all rotten, I will go take a look.

Question #12:

We want to travel the Rockies in a Motorhome?

We have 3 months. We think the cheapest way to go is fly in and out of Denver from UK - does this make sense?
Does anyone know of a good book (lonely planet and rough guides appear to be out of print)?
Want to do Yellowstone and the grand canyon - what other must-see places are there? Do you know any great places that are not on the regular tourist trails?
Many thanks
Thanks for those ideas Charlie
But anyone know about the books and whether Denver is the best place to start?
Thanks A Hunch - we looked at Denver as it was the only international one on the east side as we were not intending to do the Sierra Nevada this time around. Also checking out prices, if we start and finish in San Francisco or elsewhere in California then we are talking another $10,000 over what we can manage for Denver. Good point about the l-o-n-g motor-homes- I had not considered that. We are thinking of C grade no more than 22ft as there is only 2 of us, so perhaps that is OK, but I will certainly check out to see if there are limits to the length in the places we end up going to. We thinking end of July to mid October, and if we went north first, by the time we get to Grand Canyon, it should be cooling down nicely! But thanks for giving me lots to think about

Question #13:

Do parents consider initials when naming?

I'm just curious, due to me.

My name is Taylor and my last initial begins with V. So if you leave out my middle initial-which was often done in elementary school-my initials are T.V. Constantly teased. =p

My dad's name is Rick. So R.V, like that motorhome. What were his parents thinking?

Do you take into consideration initials when picking names?
T.V is bad when all of the kids say "Oh look there's the T.V" or "Let's turn on the T.V!" or "What's on the T.V?". Every single day. It gets annoying.

Question #17:

oil leak between the flexplate dust cover and running down the back of oil pan?

have a 1987 p30 chevy 454 motorhome-had flexplate replaced charged 580 dollars which i thought was reasonable the problem is i noticed oil leaking down the back of oil pan also the dust cover for the flexplate out the small hole.always had a small oil leak coming out of dust cover but never down the back of oil pan- my question is dont you replace the rear main oil seal when changing the flexplate i think i have a 2 piece seal because the engine and chass was made in 1986 and dont you have to take the oil pan off to get to it -which they never took off or is it else where i know a one piece seal is differnt location right? anyways could it be the gasket on the oil pan ?

Question #18:

Question #19:

Suing, but should we keep vehicle?

My husband bought a motorhome from this individual in 10000. He has paid 5000 as the initial payment and 3600 in monthly payments. We think we should have a balance to pay it off of 1400. However, the owner never forwarded the payments to the bank, so bank says we owe more than 12000. We stopped making the payments until this gets resolved. We are planning on suing him in small claims for 7500 because we consider we also used the motorhome, however he is now demanding his vehicle back. Should we return it or is should we keep it as a collateral for our money. What could happened if we do not return it until we go to court?

Question #20:

Winter Camping - what's better, trailer or motorhome?

I am considering to start my own industrial consulting business (product development/ industrial design) in Sweden in a while. Part of my plan is to have an always ready vehicle with which I can immediately storm on out on contract work, driving wherever with it at any time of the year, to Norway, to Italy, to Hungary, whatever.
I kind of like the idea of getting a nice exec sedan type car, like a BMW 5-series or a Mercedes E-Class, and using it to pull a trailer, then parking the trailer in a winter camp site and visit my business partners, using the Merc. I don't like the idea of pulling up in a motorhome in my clients' parking lot though. They aren't exactly the kind of apparition that makes manufacturers feel like their design guy has much taste. It's a bit like catching a five-star chef munching on a Subway sandwich.
I imagine though that trailers like that are not good to drive around in the snow with, and much of my work will be done in winter. So, for one, is this the case - or are modern cars with ESP and ABS perfectly fine on snow, pulling big trailers? Or will I be better off with a motorhome?
